Forefront Telecare supports “World Alzheimer’s Day” to help raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds dementia.  The COVID-19 pandemic has been extremely challenging for people with Alzheimer’s Disease and their caregivers. Not only are Alzheimer’s patients more likely to contract COVID-19 and develop severe disease consequences than those without dementia, they have also suffered terribly from forced isolation: agitation, boredom, and loneliness among other neuropsychiatric symptoms.

For over 10 years, Forefront has utilized telehealth to provide geriatric psychiatry services to Alzheimer’s patients in underserved hospitals, nursing homes, and home health settings. These services are urgently needed. We hope that one outcome of World Alzheimer’s Day is the recognition that millions of people worldwide living with Alzheimer’s Disease lack access to specialized care that can make a tremendous difference to the quality of their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
